An easy test to check whether PostgreSQL is operating correctly: Login from the host psql -d database_name -U username -W Login from remote psql -h host_ip -d database_name -U username -W

It should open postgreSQL command line

Starting and Stopping the Service

To start and stop the service

sudo service postgresql start

sudo service postgresql start

Config locations and key variables

  • Your PostgreSQL is installed at /etc/postgresql
